We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Academy 360 and to help you get ready for the secondary phase.

Introduction

Academy 360 is an all-through school serving the Pennywell community in Sunderland, welcoming students from Reception through to Year 11. From their first day, our students are encouraged to develop a love of learning and a curiosity for the world around them. Our aim is to ensure every child is supported to achieve their potential and leaves the academy prepared for further studies, university, or the world of work.

We provide a first-class education through high-quality teaching and a broad, inspiring curriculum. Alongside academic learning, students have access to a wide range of extracurricular experiences that develop social, leadership and independent learning skills. Our approach ensures students are challenged, supported and inspired both inside and outside the classroom.

At Academy 360, our dedicated staff nurture positive relationships with every student, guiding them to grow into confident, dynamic individuals. We are committed to removing barriers and providing opportunities so that all students can succeed in their chosen pathways. We warmly welcome prospective families to visit and see for themselves the vibrant, supportive and aspirational environment we provide.

Transition Days

As part of the Year 6 to Year 7 transition process, we hold dedicated transition days to give pupils the opportunity to experience life at Academy 360 before starting in September. These days allow students to familiarise themselves with the school building, meet key staff, take part in lessons and spend time with their new classmates.

For September 2026 starters, our transition days will be announced soon.

Student Story

We’re excited to share a series of student videos to give prospective pupils and their families a real insight into life at our academies. These videos feature current students talking about their first impressions, how they settled in and the opportunities they’ve enjoyed since joining.

Through these stories, parents and students can see the supportive learning environment, the variety of enrichment opportunities and the welcoming community that makes each academy unique. The videos offer an authentic perspective, helping future pupils feel confident and excited about their own journey with us.

Travel Information

By Car

• Use SR4 9BA for sat nav.
• Enter via the main Portsmouth Road entrance.
• Visitor parking is available at the front of the school.
• Parents and carers should use the designated drop-off areas and avoid blocking access roads.

By Public Transport

• By Metro: The nearest Tyne and Wear Metro station is South Hylton, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the school.
• By Bus: Stagecoach and Go North-East services stop on Portsmouth Road, close to the school. Stagecoach services 10 and 20 link the school with Sunderland city centre, with service 20 continuing to Grangetown. Go North-East service 61 also links Pennywell with Sunderland city centre, continuing to Seaham and Peterlee. Go North-East service 62 links Doxford Park with the school.
