Our Year 7 pupils recently took part in an inspiring World of Work Day at the Beacon of Light, delivered by the Foundation of Light.

Throughout the day, pupils explored a variety of career sectors, meeting employers and Foundation of Light staff who shared their own career journeys, experiences and routes into different industries. The sessions gave pupils a valuable insight into the wide range of opportunities available to them as they begin thinking about their futures.

Pupils also enjoyed a series of interactive, hands-on activities, including:

  • Hospitality – making and decorating pancakes.
  • Manufacturing (Nissan) – learning about the production process and how car parts are made.
  • Sports and Exercise Science – taking part in a range of fitness and performance activities.
  • Engineering – working together to solve practical challenges, build trolleys and develop teamwork skills.
  • Foundation of Light – discovering more about the charity's work, exploring the history of Sunderland AFC and designing a brand-new team strip.

We were incredibly proud of the way our pupils represented Academy 360 throughout the day. They demonstrated excellent engagement, respect and enthusiasm, making the most of every opportunity to learn from industry professionals.

A huge thank you to the Foundation of Light, the visiting employers and everyone involved in delivering such a valuable experience. The day helped broaden our pupils' horizons, raise aspirations and encourage them to start thinking about the exciting career pathways available to them.
